English Language Arts

Objectives/Outcomes

In sixth grade, students will learn traditional grammar and how to apply it to writing skills across many genres through the 5-step writing process:  Pre-writing, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing.

Math

Objectives/Outcomes

Students will develop solid problem-solving skills in preparation for algebra and methods of estimation.  By the end of the course, students will have mastered basic math concepts, including decimals, integers, ratios, and probability.  In addition, they will learn to apply math to real-life situations.

Heritage Studies

Objectives/Outcomes

Students will study ancient civilizations from Creation-Middle Ages with an emphasis on justice, power, citizenship, and environment.  Students will use maps, graphs, charts, photographs, and illustrations.

  • Creating their own family tree
  • Country/Continent report
  • Men that built America project
