Kindergarten
Language Arts
Objectives/Outcomes
Students learn the sounds letters make and how to write them. Through engaging activities and lessons, students practice and learn to blend letters, read one and two vowel words, letter blends, words with special sounds, and sentence comprehension. These are reinforced with daily lessons and projects.
Projects
Students will create a sight word journal and do a sight word popcorn sentence project. They will participate in reading week and do a Dr. Seuss breakfast.
Arithmetic
Objectives/Outcomes
Students will participate in activities that reinforce number concepts and formation through 100. They will begin learning addition and subtraction combinations, telling time, recognizing number sequences, learning number words, and working with money.
Projects
Our kindergartners look so cute coming to school in period-specific clothing when they celebrate the one-hundredth day of school. They will also utilize math fact flashcards.
Social Studies
Objectives/Outcomes
In kindergarten, students learn about community helpers, children of America, and other countries.
Projects
Classroom visits from community helpers such as local firemen, police, etc., and they do a continent passport project.
Science
Objectives/Outcomes
Students explore God's plan for seeds, animals, the seashore, health, weather, and seasons. Each lesson is taught using colorful materials and hands-on activities
Projects
Projects include a rain/lightning project and a project where they learn the structure of a planet.
Bible
Objectives/Outcomes
Themes for kindergarten include creation, truths from the Bible, the life of Christ, prayer, missions, and a chronology of the Bible. They learn these themes by studying the lives of Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Jonah, Peter, and Paul. They will also look at the Book of Genesis and the life of Jesus through art and colorful lessons.
Projects
Students learn to participate in engaging worship and praying with friends.
